As men’s fashion continues to expand and men become even more concerned about their appearance, there’s an increased demand for fine goods.  Shopping from a discount store’s sale rack is no longer acceptable.  Today’s fashion-conscious men desire products that are carefully constructed and of the highest quality.  From their shirts to their special occasion suits, they want finely crafted garments tailored exactly to their needs.  This includes their shoes.  Shoes are often the defining statement of an outfit.  Furthermore, poorly made shoes can lead to discomfort and exacerbated foot problems.  Custom shoes can solve these problems and more.  They’re crafted from scratch and built to meet the customer’s specific needs.  They’re also the product of a detailed process that ensures they’ll stand the test of time.  For men looking for the market’s best shoes, custom is the only option.

The biggest difference between buying ready-to-wear shoes and commissioning custom shoes is the level of detail.  Ready-to-wear shoes are created using standard patterns.  These patterns don’t consider the subtle differences in your feet.  Not only does each man have a different set of foot characteristics than the next, but even your own two feet could be different in size and scope.  The custom shoe process revolves around your specifications.  Between 6-10 measurements are taken to guarantee your final shoe is a perfect fit.

Though fit is important, another great aspect of the custom shoe process is the actual customization.  As the customer, you become a partner with the shoemaker to craft the shoes of your dreams.  From a service standpoint, our shoemakers can visit your home or office for the initial consultation.  The experience is tailored to your life in every way.

When designing your shoes, you can pick from a variety of classic styles including but not limited to oxfords, loafers, saddle shoes, wingtips and monk straps.  After deciding on the shoe model, you’ll iron out the details with the shoemaker.  You’ll pick your preferred leather, the patina, the soles and the shoe trees.  From here, the construction process begins.

A prototype of your shoe is created.  Your measurements will be used on a cardboard model.  This model will guide the shoemaker in cutting the leather.  Once the prototype is ready, you’ll try it on for size and comfort.  As soon as you sign off, the remainder of the construction process gets underway.

Your shoes’ lasting and welting is completed.  Then, they’re inspected and cleaned to ensure perfection.  The patina is the last step applied before they’re delivered to you as a finished product.

The custom shoe process is about so much more than improving your style.  It’s about having access to an unparalleled client experience.  You’ll land on a pair of shoes that’s unique to your every need—a one of a kind creation that you can’t find anywhere else.  To get started, contact us to learn more about our skilled tailors and set up an appointment.
