What makes us different
Custom suits built from scratch, not adjusted to fit
Most suits start with a standard pattern and get altered until they are close enough. At The Tailored Foundation, we start with you. Every suit begins with a full set of measurements, a pattern drafted to your proportions, and a construction process built around your body from the first stitch to the last.
The result is a suit that fits correctly across the shoulders, chest, and waist at the same time — something off-the-rack tailoring cannot reliably deliver. If you want to understand exactly what that difference looks like, read our guide on what tailored suits actually are.

Common questions
Everything you want to know before booking
What is the difference between a bespoke suit and a made-to-measure suit?
Made-to-measure starts with a standard block pattern and adjusts it to your size. Bespoke starts with nothing — a tailor drafts an entirely new pattern from your measurements. The fit, the structure, and the way the garment moves are all fundamentally different as a result. We only work bespoke. Read our guide on what tailored suits actually are for a full breakdown.
How long does a custom suit take?
Most clients receive their completed suit within a few weeks of the initial consultation. If you have a specific event, wedding, or deadline, let us know at the first appointment and we will plan the timeline around it.
How much does a bespoke suit cost?
Pricing varies depending on fabric choice, construction details, and the complexity of the commission. The best way to get an accurate figure is to book a consultation — we will walk you through the options and what each one costs before any commitment is made.
Do I need to know what I want before coming in?
Not at all. The consultation is where those decisions get made, with guidance at every step. If you want to arrive with some ideas already formed, our post on questions to ask before buying a custom suit is a useful starting point.
Can a bespoke suit be altered later if my body changes?
Yes. A well-constructed bespoke suit is built with enough seam allowance to accommodate adjustments over time. Waist, seat, trouser length, and sleeve length can all be altered as needed. The shoulder and overall structure, built correctly from the start, will remain sound.
How do I know if the suit fits correctly when I collect it?
The fitting stages built into our process exist specifically so you are not guessing at the end. You will wear the suit before it is finished and we will check every fit point together. Our guide on how to know if a suit fits well covers exactly what we look for at each fitting.
Do you make suits for weddings and formal events?
Yes. Wedding suits and black-tie commissions are among our most requested services. We work with grooms, groomsmen, and full wedding parties, and we coordinate the timeline carefully around your event date. Visit our wedding suits page for more detail.
Is a custom suit worth it compared to buying off the rack?
For most people who wear suits regularly, yes. A bespoke suit fits correctly, lasts significantly longer when cared for properly, and does not require repeated alteration costs. Our post on why choose a tailored suit over off the rack breaks down the comparison in practical terms.
