Terms and Conditions
Last updated: June 2026
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of The Tailored Foundation website and the services we provide. By booking a consultation, placing a commission, or using this website, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully before proceeding.
1. About The Tailored Foundation
The Tailored Foundation is a bespoke tailoring and shoemaking business operating from studios in Rosemont, IL, Libertyville, IL, and Milwaukee, WI. We provide fully bespoke garments and footwear including custom suits, tuxedos, handcrafted shirts, blazers, custom trousers, and bespoke shoes. All services are provided by appointment only.
2. Consultations and Bookings
Consultations are offered at all three studio locations and may be booked online or by phone at (224) 628-2980. A consultation does not constitute a commission. No work will begin until a commission has been formally agreed and any applicable deposit has been received.
We reserve the right to reschedule or cancel consultations where necessary. Where we cancel, we will make reasonable effort to offer an alternative appointment at the earliest opportunity.
3. Commissions and Deposits
Deposit requirements vary depending on the nature and complexity of the commission. The applicable deposit amount will be communicated to you before any commission is confirmed. A commission is not confirmed and work will not begin until the agreed deposit has been received.
The remaining balance is due upon collection of the completed commission. We reserve the right to withhold delivery of completed garments or footwear until full payment has been received.
All prices quoted during consultation are in US Dollars and are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. Prices are subject to change prior to formal commission confirmation.
4. Cancellations and Refunds
Due to the bespoke nature of every commission, no refunds are issued once work has begun on a garment or pair of shoes. Each piece is made specifically for you and cannot be resold or reassigned to another client.
If you wish to cancel a commission before work has begun, please contact us as soon as possible at (224) 628-2980. Cancellation before work begins may result in forfeiture of any deposit paid, depending on the stage of planning and material procurement already undertaken.
Nothing in this clause affects any statutory rights you may have under applicable consumer protection laws.
5. Fittings and Alterations
One or more fitting appointments are included as part of your commission. We strongly encourage you to attend all scheduled fittings to ensure the best possible result. If you are unable to attend a scheduled fitting, please notify us as early as possible so we can rearrange.
Minor adjustments identified at the fitting stage are included within the commission. Alterations requested after the commission has been collected, or alterations arising from a significant change in the client's measurements after the fitting stage, may be subject to additional charges.
We take no responsibility for fit issues arising from measurements that have materially changed between the measurement appointment and collection of the completed commission.
6. Materials and Fabrics
Fabric and leather selections are made during the consultation and confirmed at the time of commission. Once a fabric or leather has been ordered and cut, substitutions cannot be made. We will make reasonable effort to advise you on the characteristics of each material before you make your selection.
In the unlikely event that a selected fabric or material becomes unavailable after commission confirmation, we will contact you promptly and offer the closest suitable alternative. We will not proceed with a substitute material without your approval.
7. Timelines and Delivery
Estimated completion timelines are provided during the consultation and are given in good faith. Timelines are not contractual guarantees and may be subject to variation due to the handmade nature of each commission, fabric or material availability, or circumstances outside our control.
Where you have provided a specific event date, we will make every reasonable effort to complete the commission in advance of that date. We recommend booking as early as possible when working toward a fixed deadline.
Completed commissions are available for collection at the studio where the work was commissioned. We do not currently offer shipping or postal delivery of completed garments or footwear.
8. Shoe Lasts
For bespoke shoe commissions, a last is carved from your foot measurements and used in the construction of your shoes. We store your last on file to facilitate future commissions. Ownership, transfer, and any rights relating to your last will be communicated to you at the time of commission.
